Seit 2018 gehören Themen aus dem Umfeld der Visual History/Historischen Bildforschung und den Visual Studies/Bildwissenschaft wesentlich zu meinem Repertoire. Folgende Bereiche und Leistungen können Sie anfragen: 

 

 »AUFARBEITUNG 

Die Aufarbeitung von privaten, institutionellen oder unternehmerischen Fotosammlungen, Nachlässen und Archiven ermöglicht ein tieferes Verständnis der Gegenwart und der eigenen Identität. Bilder sind wertvolle, unwiderbringliche Zeit- und Erinnerungszeugnisse. Um sie der Nachwelt oder der Öffentlichkeit zur Verfügung zu stellen, müssen sie sortiert, editiert, beschriftet und konserviert werden. Mögliches Resultat einer solchen Aufarbeitung wäre die Konzeption und Realisierung von Publikationen und/oder Austellungen. Hierfür arbeite ich mit einem Team von renommierten Autor*innen, Lektor*innen, Grafiker*innen und Druckereien zusammen. 

 

»BILDCOACHING

Haben Sie Fragen oder Anliegen hinsichtlich bildwissenschaftlicher Projekte oder der Implementierung von Themen der Bildkultur in bestehende Projekte oder Unternehmungen? 

Neben der Erstellung von Texten, umfasst mein Angebot auch Beratung und Begleitung in künstlerischen Prozessen sowie Unterstützung bei der Erstellung von Fotomappen oder Portfolios für Bewerber*innen von Kunsthochschulen oder anderen Institutionen.

    

»FORSCHUNG

Mein wissenschaftliches Interesse gilt der Bedeutung der Bilder in historischen, sozialen und politischen sowie Meinungsbildungs-Prozessen. Aktuell sei hier die Recherche zu einem historischen Fotobestand im Überseemuseum genannt, der einem Bremer Beamten zugeordnet wird, welcher um 1900 im damaligen Konstantinopel fotografiert hat. Hier gilt der Fokus der Frage, inwieweit die zeitgeschichtlichen Motive von einem Orientalismus geprägt sind, der, als Vorläufer des gegenwärtigen Antiislamismus, hegemoniale, rassistische und eurozentristische Sichtweisen reproduziert hat. Gleichzeitig geht es um die Untersuchung, inwieweit das Medium Fotografie historisch als Werkzeug zur Herstellung und Sicherung von Herrschaft und Macht gelten kann. 

 

»VERMITTLUNG

Bildwissenschaftliche und fotohistorisch/technische Vorträge, angewandte Lehre, die Leitung von Workshops  sowie eine auf Teilhabe und Mitgestaltung ausgerichtete Kunst- und Kulturvermittlung (Erwachsene und Kinder) gehören zu meinen Leistungen.

Themen und Zeiten können angefragt und individuell abgestimmt werden.

Since 2018 topics from the fields of visual history/visual studies have become fundamental to my repertoire.You can request the following areas and services:

 

>> RECONDITIONING 

The reconditioning of private, institutional or entrepreneurial photo collections, inheritances and archives enables a deeper understanding of the present circumstances and of the very own identity. Photographs are valuable reports of time and memories that cannot be brought back. To make them accessible for the after-world, they have to be sorted, edited, titled and conserved. A possible outcome of such work would be the conception and realisation of publications and/or exhibitions.

I collaborate with a team of well established authors, editors, graphic designers and printing companies for these matters.

 

>> PICTURE COACHING 

Do you have questions or concerns regarding image study projects or the implementation of image culture topics within current projects or activities? In addition to the creation of texts my offer also consists of the consultation and support regarding artistic processes. I furthermore offer assistance in the making of photo folders and portfolios, whether as applications for art academies or for other institutions.

 

>> RESEARCH 

My scientific research is based on the interest for the meaning of images in historical, social and political processes. Presently, the research on a historic photographic inventory of the Überseemuseum in Bremen is aimed, as the collection is assigned to an early official of this town. He travelled and photographed in former Constantinople around 1900. The focus refers to what extent the historical images were characterised through orientalism, which, as a predecessor of the current anti-Islamism, reproduced hegemonic, racist and Eurocentric perspectives.

Simultaneously I am examining how the medium of photography can be regarded as a tool for the creation and security of rulership and power.

 

>> MEDIATION

Scientific image studies and lectures on photographic history/technical matters, applied teaching, the moderation of workshops and an active participation in the mediation of art and culture (adults and children) are further services of mine. Topics and times can be requested according to your individual needs.
